The Sportage Plug-In Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that can travel up to 34 miles using just battery power. It has more power, fewer trips to the gas station, and lower tailpipe emissions than the lower-priced Sportage Hybrid. Wonderful fuel economy estimates for a plug-in-hybrid SUV, it gets 84 MPG-equivalent in combined city/highway driving when in Electric/Hybrid mode, and 35 mpg combined in Gas/Hybrid mode.

The Kia's battery takes about 2 hours to charge using a 240-volt/Level 2 charging station or power outlet. Using a 120-volt household-style power outlet (Level 1), you can fully charge the battery overnight (around 10 hours).
