2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R 602MILES This 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R has 602 miles. It is powered by a 5.2-liter Voodoo V8 linked with a six-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited-slip differential. The 5.2-liter Voodoo V8 features a flat-plane crankshaft along with dual overhead camshafts, variable valve timing, and an engine oil cooler. A commemorative plaque displays the signature of the engine builder, and factory-rated output was 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a Tremec TR-3160 six-speed manual transmission and a 3.73:1 Torsen limited-slip differential. Additional coolers for the engine, transmission, and differential were standard. The car is finished in Oxford White (YZ) with optional over-the-top blue racing stripes and features HID projector headlights, a carbon-composite front grille, functional hood and fender vents, a front splitter with the Shelby logo, a carbon-fiber wing, LED taillights with sequential turn signals, and quad exhaust outlets. Black 19″ carbon-fiber seven-spoke wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires measuring 305/30 up front and 315/30 out back. The R-specification suspension features a MagneRide damping system, and braking is handled by two-piece rotors with Brembo calipers at all four corners. The cabin features Recaro sport seats trimmed in Ebony cloth and Miko suede with red stitching. The Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel frames a 200-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an 8,250-rpm redline, auxiliary gauges, and a central multi-function digital display. Additional gauges for oil pressure and oil temperature are mounted in the center stack. The rear seat is omitted on R models, and equipment includes a touchscreen infotainment system with voice-activated navigation, a rearview camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, a CD stereo, and cruise control. A passenger-side dashboard plaque lists chassis number G3422. To inquire about this vehicle, call LRA at 215-781-3790 or email us at sales@lrasales.com.

2016 Ford Mustang

The 2016 Ford Mustang marked a significant evolution for the iconic American pony car, building upon the groundbreaking redesign introduced in 2015. It continued to blend classic Mustang styling with modern performance, technology, and a more refined driving experience than its predecessors. This generation offered a more sophisticated and capable Mustang, appealing to both loyal enthusiasts and new buyers looking for a stylish and exhilarating coupe or convertible.

Highlights

  • Engine Options:
    • 2.3L EcoBoost Inline-4: This turbocharged engine provided an impressive balance of power and fuel efficiency. With its twin-scroll turbocharger and direct injection, it delivered brisk acceleration and a surprisingly sporty feel, making it a viable and often preferred option for everyday driving.
    • 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 ("Coyote"): The heart of the Mustang GT, this naturally aspirated V8 engine offered the quintessential Mustang soundtrack and robust performance. It was the choice for those prioritizing raw power and the visceral thrill of a V8.
  • Safety Features:
    • AdvanceTrac® Electronic Stability Control: This system helps the driver maintain control of the vehicle during extreme steering maneuvers or slippery conditions by automatically applying brakes and reducing engine power.
    • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS): Prevents the wheels from locking up during hard braking, allowing the driver to maintain steering control.
    • Airbags: A comprehensive suite including front, side, and available knee airbags for both driver and passenger, providing crucial occupant protection.
    • Rearview Camera: Aids in backing up by displaying a view of the area behind the vehicle, reducing the risk of collisions.
    • Blind Spot Information System (BLIS®) with Cross-Traffic Alert (Optional): BLIS warns the driver when a vehicle is detected in their blind spot, while Cross-Traffic Alert alerts them to approaching traffic when reversing out of a parking space.
  • Trim Summary:
    • Mustang V6 (Base): While the V6 engine was phased out for the 2018 model year, it was still available in 2016, offering a more budget-friendly entry point with respectable performance for its class.
    • Mustang EcoBoost: This trim focused on the turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder engine, offering a blend of performance and efficiency. The EcoBoost Premium added more upscale features and amenities.
    • Mustang GT: The performance-oriented trim, featuring the powerful 5.0L V8 engine. The GT Premium further enhanced the interior and exterior styling with premium appointments.
    • Mustang Shelby GT350 & GT350R: These high-performance variants, introduced in 2015, represented the pinnacle of the Mustang's track-focused capabilities. They featured a unique 5.2L "Voodoo" flat-plane-crank V8, enhanced aerodynamics, track-tuned suspension, and significant braking upgrades.
  • Other Notable Aspects:
    • Independent Rear Suspension (IRS): A significant upgrade from previous generations, the IRS dramatically improved ride quality and handling, making the Mustang more composed and comfortable on a variety of road surfaces.
    • Modern Interior Design: The cabin adopted a more driver-centric and premium feel, with high-quality materials and a sleek, aircraft-inspired cockpit.
    • SYNC® 3 Infotainment System (Optional on EcoBoost, Standard on GT Premium and above): This updated system offered a more responsive touchscreen interface, improved voice recognition, and smartphone integration capabilities.
    • Convertible Option: The Mustang remained available as a stylish convertible, offering open-air driving thrills.

What to Expect

Owning a 2016 Ford Mustang generally involves a sporty yet refined experience. Daily driving is comfortable, especially with the EcoBoost engine, which offers good fuel economy for its class. The V8 models provide a more engaging and potent driving sensation, with a distinctive exhaust note that is a key part of the Mustang appeal.

  • Maintenance: Routine maintenance, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections, will be comparable to other modern vehicles in its class. The EcoBoost engine may offer slightly lower fuel costs, but specialized parts for the V8 or performance-oriented models (like the Shelby variants) could be more expensive. Following the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule will be crucial for longevity.
  • Insurance: As a sporty and often powerful vehicle, insurance premiums for the 2016 Mustang can vary significantly based on engine choice, trim level, driver history, and location. The V8 models and higher-performance variants like the GT350 will typically command higher insurance rates due to their performance capabilities and potential for higher repair costs.

Potential Considerations

While the 2016 Mustang is a compelling package, there are a few aspects potential buyers should be aware of:

  • Rear Seat Space: Like many sporty coupes, the rear seats are best suited for children or short trips for adults. Legroom and headroom are limited.
  • Visibility: The sloping roofline and thick C-pillars can create some blind spots, particularly for the convertible model with the top up. The rearview camera and optional blind-spot monitoring help mitigate this.
  • Ride Quality (GT350/GT350R): While exceptional for track performance, the stiffer suspension and performance tires on the Shelby GT350 and GT350R models can result in a firmer ride on everyday roads, which may be less comfortable for some drivers.
  • Infotainment System Reliability (Early SYNC versions): While SYNC 3 was an improvement, early iterations of Ford's infotainment systems sometimes experienced glitches or slow responsiveness, though this varied by individual unit and software updates.

Overall Summary

The 2016 Ford Mustang is a highly capable and desirable pony car that successfully blended its heritage with modern automotive advancements. It offered a strong range of engines, improved handling thanks to its independent rear suspension, and a more sophisticated interior. Whether opting for the efficient and peppy EcoBoost or the thunderous V8 GT, the Mustang delivered an engaging driving experience in a stylish package. For those seeking ultimate track-focused performance, the Shelby GT350 and GT350R were formidable machines. The 2016 model year solidified the Mustang's position as a benchmark in its segment, offering a compelling blend of style, performance, and everyday usability.
