Exterior If you only take a quick glance, you may mistake this car for a run of the mill six cylinder pony and boy, would you be wrong. The '08 model shows some design restraint while still paying tribute to the original 1968 movie car. A black mesh grille is devoid of the iconic chrome pony and is accented by a satin aluminum frame that is a throwback to the 1968 Mustang but also does a splendid job of framing the gap next to the proper Dark Highland Green. The side steel panels flow nicely with well minded gaps and in the back we find an understated deck lid with no spoiler and a circular faux gas cap/badge that shows Ford Bullitt in front of a crosshair design flanked by three part tail lights, now larger and flush but still reminiscent of past generations. Dual exhaust tips boldly emerge from the lower bumper and 18-inch argent Bullitt wheels wrapped 235/50ZR18 rubber with an early 2021 date code. Only two small imperfections were found; a small ding on a door and a horizontal inclusion on the rear bumper cover. Interior Bullitt engraved sill plates are met with attractive gray door panels that utilize molded plastic and leather inserts. Inside, beautiful high backed charcoal leather buckets topped with headrests, all in fantastic condition as are the foldable 2 plus 2 seats in back. A center console runs through the buckets and houses a satin aluminum trim piece that surrounds the machined aluminum shifter ball. As it rises to the dash center, we have the A/C panel along with an AM/FM/CD radio. Under the black textured dash cover and among the machine spun aluminum front are two large round deep set gauges, somewhat retro in design, with a central gauge cluster, analog with the exception of the digital odometer readouts. Black carpet and a felt headliner all is tight and clean below and above, and a finished trunk has the requisite contoured gray panels and remains spotless. Drivetrain A strut tower brace bridges the bay where you'll find the 4.6 liter 3 valve V8, rated at 315 horsepower and mated to the Tremec 3650 5-speed manual transmission. Ponies are routed to the Ford 8.8 in back with 3.73 gears and TracLoc. Undercarriage Time more than use has induced the typical surface rust and oxidation on things like the driveshaft and axle on an otherwise clean underside. The dual exhaust runs through original mufflers and exits via aggressive polished tips and power disc brakes occupy all four corners. Suspension consists of Macpherson struts up front and a 3 link with coil springs and a panhard bar in back, robust enough to take this thoroughbred around turns. Drive-Ability No surprises on this low mileage pampered pony. A sweet exhaust note, plenty of power underfoot, and very good handling prevails. As with such low mileage, the functionality test scores 100 and everything works as it should.
