The S281 'Extreme' variant is primarily differentiated by the power plant within: it is powered by a Supercharged 4.6L V8 that produces 550hp and 525 lb-ft of torque. These are large numbers even in the present time, and werequite significant back when new in 2006-2007. The supercharger is a Saleen Series VIIntegrated Screw Type Supercharger, and is mechanically complemented by a Dual Stage Water to Air Intercooled System, Saleen Forged Aluminum Pistons, Saleen Forged Steel Connecting Rods, a Saleen Forged Steel Crankshaft, and Ported Aluminum Cylinder Heads. A Saleen Performance Dual-Core Radiator and High Flow Cooling System are also present, along with a PowerFlash Calibration, Performance AirFilter, and a 2 1/2' Performance Center Exhaust.
