2002 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe The C5 Vette was launched in March of 1997. It was a clean slate rethink of the Corvette formula: two seats, composite body, pushrod V8 and independent suspension. The C5 shared very few parts with the earlier Corvettes-or with any other GM products, for that matter. The engineers took this opportunity to push the envelope when it came to technology and manufacturing processes, and the result was a vastly better car than before. For consignment, a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette coupe with a title verified 17,457 actual miles. If you missed the boat on getting a C5 right out of Bowling Green, here's a second chance! This is a pampered one owner example with super low mileage and a clean presentation. Exterior Magnetic Red Tint Coat Metallic, a long name for dark red paint, drapes the exterior of this sculpted fiberglass car with sensuous body lines and hidden headlights, large intakes in the front bumper, scalloped sides and fluid-like surfaces. Pure Corvette is embodied in the round tail lights within the sculpted bumper and oval quad exhaust making a center exit within the slotted valance. A removable smoked and translucent targa top increases the fun potential of this American sports car while a sloping rear window sheds air like a sheepdog in spring. The 17-inch front, and 18-inch rear cast aluminum chrome 5 spoke wheels are wrapped in their original tires retaining a date code of late 2001. Overall the paint and trim are in excellent shape with imperfections noted as some paint chips on the driver door and rocker panel along with some scuffs on that rocker, scuffs and rock chips on the front fascia, and the typical chin scrapes including a rather deep one. Interior A wash in satiny black greets you, first with molded door panels with rubber faced buttons in fantastic shape and creating the sidewalls for black leather high back bucket seats with all the cushioning and support they left Kentucky with. The cockpit continues with a robust steering wheel fronting a clean, analogue instrument cluster with all the essential information, followed by an AM/FM/CD and dual zone electronic A/C panel in the center stack. Seamless black coverage continues to the console where the shifter is accompanied by a ride control knob and all in beautiful condition over charcoal carpet that cleanly extends over the cargo area. In descriptive terms, this interior is showroom fresh! Drivetrain Under the shrouds is Chevy's formidable 5.7 liter LS1 V8 rated at a healthy 350 horsepower and this one is mated to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear limited slip axle with 2.73 gears. As with the interior, the engine presents in showroom clean condition. Undercarriage With minimal signs of use, the underside does not disappoint. Dual exhaust of course, is still running through original equipment including mufflers and tail tips. Power disc brakes are supplied to all four wheels and the complex independent suspension features aluminum controls arms with transverse monoleaf springs. Drive-Ability Remember that first test drive at the dealership? That's not unlike what we're experiencing here in this super clean Vette, and functionally speaking, everything works as it should and it comes as no surprise. We're on 25 year old tires so there will be no red light acceleration testing or fast turns, but we know with a fresh set of rubber, this beast can carve canyons with the best of them! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Here's an unmolested stock C5 in a great spec and low mileage. There's not much more to say as it speaks for itself. We suspect you're already dialing the phone. 1G1YY22G525113197 1-USA G-General Motors 1-Chevrolet YY-Corvette 2-Coupe 2-Manual Belts, Front Airbags G-5.7L LS1 V8 350hp 5-Check Dig
