Offered for sale is this 2001 Mercedes-Benz SL 500 Convertible, finished in white over a grey leather interior, with a black fabric convertible top and a removable body color hardtop, powered by a 5.0 liter V8 engine running power to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission, with 105,674 miles on the odometer as of this writing.
This month Kasser Motor Group has had the pleasure to offer a few examples of the R129 chassis Mercedes SL convertible. It remains a favorite from arguably the best era of Mercedes Benz engineering, a cost-no-object commitment to producing a durable and timeless touring car with iconic Bruno Sacco styling. Produced from 1990 to 2002, this version of the SL was a significant improvement over the R107 SL it replaced, and time has been very kind to it as it continues to prove its integrity as it ages.
This particular example is in excellent condition, with no mechanical or cosmetic evidence of the mileage it has accrued. As a late example of the R129, it sports the M113 V8, renowned for its reliability, and the five-speed automatic paired with it is a proven combination. The standard Monoblock wheels are a signature upgrade for any Mercedes, and the addition of a new Continental stereo head unit allows Bluetooth pairing for both phone and streaming music, in an attractive head unit that looks visually cohesive, and period correct in the interior.
