This special 1LE model was engineered by Chevrolet as a purpose-built performance package, originally intended for SCCA showroom stock racing. It features a locking differential with 3.42 gears, a traction control delete, and a rear window defroster. The FE7 suspension upgrade with Koni adjustable shocks and a strut tower brace provides exceptional handling precision, while the high-flow exhaust system and 17-inch ZR1-style wheels emphasize its track-focused design. Additional equipment includes power steering with a cooler, four-wheel power disc brakes, and a 102-amp alternator, all contributing to its performance pedigree. Inside, the Camaro maintains a clean and functional driver-oriented layout with grey cloth seats and a gauge package that includes a 150 mph speedometer and tachometer. Comfort and convenience features include air conditioning, AM/FM radio, cruise control, power locks, power brakes, power steering, and power windows. Safety and security are supported by anti-lock brakes, seatbelts, driver airbag, and an anti-theft system. Equipped with ZR-rated performance tires (replaced in 2022) mounted on Factory ZR1 aluminum wheels, this 1LE captures the essence of late-1990s American performance engineering. Representing the final year of 1LE production, this example is one of only 66 produced in 1999-and one of just eight finished in red-making it a rare and desirable piece of Camaro history.
