Message from the seller

1990 Ford Mustang LX Convertible Restrained excitement. That would be one way to describe the Mustang LX 5.0L. Introduced in 1989, the LX 5.0L was an immediate success. And with good reason. With the LX 5.0L you get the smooth, clean styling of the Mustang LX model, plus all the performance attributes of the GT. And it's available in 2 door hatchback, 2 door sedan and convertible models. From the 1990 Mustang brochure For consignment, a 1990 Ford Mustang LX convertible with a title verified 85,932 actual miles. This Mustang is the only LX in 1990 to be equipped with an engine block immersion heater mixed with 3.08 gears and TracLoc and a cloth interior. A Marti report comes with the car. This example has an unmodified engine, Racecraft suspension on aftermarket wheels and this former Arizona car presents as a sporty little sleeper to those too young to remember the LX. Exterior Nothing flashy about the paint, it's two stage Cabernet Red and like a fine wine, it has aged very well with only a few chips on the front fascia registering as imperfections. 1990 saw many Ford models without the typical grated grille of the past and the Mustang is no exception with front slats that allow air intake above and below the bumper, unobstructed by cross grid structures, presenting and clean and at the time, modern look. Since the mid 80's, Mustangs employed flush headlights in line with the bookended marker lights, another feather in their modernity cap. 16-inch Pony wheels in glossy black wear 55 series tires and match the side molding and black canvas soft top, while angle cut dual exhaust and the coveted five liter emblem on the side complete this muscular car with the stout stance. Interior Black plastic and vinyl augmented by a tweed like insert and pleated map pocket covers the inner doors and both present cleanly. That cloth insert is picked up by the material on the bucket seats up front and bench in the back and some compression on the pilot's seat, they are in excellent condition. Thumb controls line the black steering wheel and front a simple instrument cluster with the pertinent info only, fronted by a microphone attached to the updated Sony AM/FM radio with Bluetooth and screen under the A/C knobs in center stack. Talk about stout, how about an MGW shifter in the plastic center console over black carpet and Mustang branded mats. The trunk is not huge but it sure is clean, lined in soft covered panels. Drivetrain A triangular strut tower brace is mounted over the 5.0 liter fuel injected V8, rated at 225 horsepower and mated to a T5 5-speed manual transmission, now with a King Cobra clutch. Power is routed to the Ford 8.8 rear with 3.08 gears and TracLoc. The bay presents cleanly and of course, features the racy intake manifold synonymous with the five liter of the time. Undercarriage Chock full of road dust underneath but dry conditions prevail and surface rust is reserved to the exhaust and driveshaft only. That exhaust runs from factory headers to an H-pipe, then through original mufflers before heading out back in legendary five liter style, two pipes split wide and angle cut in back. Racecraft suspension augments the coil springs at both ends and the 4 link in back. A disc/drum power brake set up occupies front and rear. Drive-Ability The suspension, shifter, low profile tires, all welcome modifications on this fun little grocery getter with the potent engine. On the test loop, it performs well with good power and excellent handling accompanied by crisp shifts and throttle response. Pop the cork, because all functions in this wine colored wonder work as intended and we return it to the mall for its sure to be temporary tenure. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. In some circles, LX V8's are more desirable than the GT. They're understated but quick,
