Just as its 5 Series counterpart had done before, BMW used a de-tuned variant of that car’s M88 Inline-6 along with improved aerodynamics, heavy-duty brakes, and a specially tuned suspension to create the M635CSi (its name was shortened to M6 for the US and Japanese markets and received a version of the S38B motor producing 256hp for emissions compliance). In typical fashion, the M variants of the 6 Series are some of the most desirable, offering phenomenal performance (for its era) and a joyful driving experience.
