This 1977 Pontiac Trans Am is a gorgeous 70s muscle car with an iconic look and superb options! When it comes to late-1970s American performance cars, few are as iconic as the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. Originally introduced on February 28, 1967, the Pontiac Firebird was GM's answer to the growing Pony Car market-designed to compete head-to-head with the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. Early Firebirds could be optioned with performance engines like the HO 326 or 400 V8, setting the stage for Pontiac's future performance legend. That legend arrived on March 8, 1969, when Pontiac unveiled the Trans Am performance package-a track-inspired version of the Firebird built to rival the Boss Mustangs and Camaro Z/28s. Though the tightening emissions regulations of the early 1970s slowed the muscle car movement, Pontiac refused to give up on performance. The Trans Am continued to embody the spirit of American power, redesigned to meet new standards while keeping its aggressive attitude and bold styling. In 1973, the Trans Am gained one of its most recognizable trademarks-the Screaming Chicken hood decal, designed by stylist John Schinella and inspired by Native American symbolism. By 1977, the Trans Am had evolved again, featuring a sharper, more aerodynamic front end with a recessed grille, dual square headlights, and the unmistakable presence that made it a star both on the road and on the silver screen. Also new for the 1977 model year Trans Am was the introduction of the Snowflake wheels, which has since become somewhat synonymous with the Trans Am. Today, the 1977 Pontiac Trans Am remains a timeless symbol of 1970s American performance-blending bold design, legendary V8 power, and unforgettable muscle car heritage. Under the Screaming Chicken emblazoned Shaker Hood you'll find a 400 cubic inch (6.6 Liter) V8 fed by a single 4 barrel carburetor that together were said to have produced 180 horsepower when new. The 6.6L V8 is backed by a 4 speed manual transmission that makes this iconic Firebird Trans Am an excitingly fun car to drive. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Safe-T-Track limited slip differential that helps ensure that you keep the rubber to the pavement. This '77 Trans Am comes outfitted with many fantastic options! With power front disc brakes, bringing this Pontiac Trans Am to a complete stop is a total breeze especially with the massive powerplant found under the hood. Power steering is another welcome addition to any classic car since it makes squeezing into a tight parking space at the local car show feel almost effortless. Further helping with parking efforts, as well as routine lane changes, are a pair of color-matched sport side mirrors that greatly improve visibility. Riding on a set of P245/50R17 radial tires mounted on upgraded 17 inch Snowflake wheels with Firebird center caps, this 1977 Trans Am has a modern look while retaining a nice stock appearance. The exterior has been refinished in Nautilus Blue paint accented with gold Trans Am decals and the iconic Screaming Chicken hood decal, completing the exterior look of this wonderful automobile. The interior of this 1977 Pontiac Trans Am is outstanding! The front deluxe bucket seats and rear bench are wearing black upholstery that looks to be in great condition. The black carpeting, brand new black floor mats, matching door panels, and center console are all in great shape as well and retain a fantastic stock look. The engine-turned trimmed instrument cluster comes equipped with a full array of gauges including a 100 MPH speedometer, 6,000 RPM tachometer, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, volt gauge, and fuel gauge. The padded dash is finished off with controls for lighting and climate, among other things, cigarette lighter and ashtray, glovebox, and even AM/FM/8-Track entertainment system so that you can listen to all of your tunes while cruising down the road. Whether you're buying your very first classic car or you're adding
