When the Scout was introduced in 1961, the only vehicle like it here in the US was the Jeep. Both were simple, rugged vehicles intended to be useful equipment as well as transportation. The Scout was improved over the year and eventually had more competition in the multi purpose vehicle category from the Ford Bronco and Chevrolet Blazer. By the mid 1970's all of these vehicles had grown in size and refinement becoming more mainstream and both functional and fun. SUV's have come a long way since then, but the classic, iconic domestic models are still influential and still sought after today.

This 1974 Scout II has been a long term restoration/reconditioning project for our shop. With respect to the factory line setting ticket the drivetrain was kept original/stock - 4WD, automatic. 258ci 4.2L inline 6 cylinder engine. The exterior has been refinished in the original paint scheme, Flame red with the decorative applique. For the interior, we kept it stock except for the upholstery color, opting for tan over the original green. Modifications include the addition of a roll bar, cup holder, gas struts for the tailgate glass, Bluetooth stereo, new Stewart Warner gauges and a new set of 5 Cragar Nomad wheels and General Grabber A/T tires. In addition to a complete body restoration and refreshed interior, this Scout has had the engine rebuilt and extensive service and replacement of mechanical parts including brakes, suspension, steering and electrical and more, essentially too much to list. We're at a stopping point where the vehicle is functional, looks great doing much more would be our preferences rather than the next owner's. Due to the age, it is exempt from state inspection and from odometer reporting. The line setting ticket, a reproduction owner's manual, two sets of keys and a box of original parts, plus items we didn't use will be included.

We can arrange shipping for out of area buyers. The purchase process here is simple, efficient and can typically be completed in less than an hour. The majority of our buyers are in NC and VA. We handle the registration process for all local and some out state buyers. Auto Focus has a $399 documentation fee and collects for taxes & registration in most cases. We do not hold cars, we don't offer storage and we do not have financing available.
