1969 Ford Mustang GT Fastback Because you had the option of a Sportsroof or fastback Mach I in 1969, the demand for a GT fastback wasn't as high and as a result, fewer were produced. The GT package was not identified in the VIN, but included such cosmetic indicators as lower body stripes, quad exhaust tips and a simulated hood scoop along with stronger suspension and higher ratio steering.     For consignment, a 1969 Ford Mustang GT fastback showing 53,220 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a title exemption. This one comes with a standard Marti report that confirms it is a true GT built in Metuchen, New Jersey on May 14, 1969.  Exterior In a change that offered Ford vibrancy, this one's done up in two stage Grabber Blue with a black, Boss-style C-shaped side stripe. That stripe is complemented by the matte black hood and its wide hood scoop, black sport mirrors, and the rear wing. While in back, we note the tail light panel kept monochromatically in Grabber Blue while up front, aggressive inboard lights occupy the ends of the grille with headlights set back in typical Mustang configuration. 14-inch Cragar SS are at each corner with equally sized tires at each end. Imperfections include some chipping paint, pitted metal trim including window trim and door handles, dimples in the paint on rear fender and roof, fitment and gap issues with driver's door, drilled holes in the rocker panel, and occasional inclusion in the paint.  Interior Black vinyl door cards conclude with Grabber Blue base panels and both sides present cleanly, leading to black vinyl bucket seats that are in rough shape, especially the driver's, and both seats wear aftermarket covers. Our rear 2+2 is in better shape but still has a few small tears. Up front, an aftermarket steering wheel fronts an instrument cluster that shows some age and a simulated woodgrain glove box with embedded clock and Mach I tag. The standard Ford shifter is on the transmission tunnel over black loop carpet that's in decent shape, all under a headliner and visors that could use a freshening, but present intact. Barren conditions are found in the unfinished trunk with only wisps of surface rust.  Drivetrain A painted to match 302ci V8 is under the hood and shows cleanly, fueled by a 2-barrel carburetor and mated to a C4 3-speed automatic transmission. Power is routed to the Ford 9 in back with 3.25 gears. Power brakes are noted.  Undercarriage Driver quality conditions prevail underneath with typical surface rust and one body brace panel that has flaking rust through that's also noted on the inner rocker panel. A single exhaust flows through a glasspack style muffler and exists in front of the left, rear wheel. Power brakes include front disc and rear drum and suspension consists of coil springs in front and leaf springs in back.  Drive-Ability The trusty 302 comes to life without hesitation and sets us on our way around the test loop where it provides good power and straight tracking. We do note a grinding on the right side upon braking but otherwise the car runs out well. The horn and reverse lights are not working but all other functions available in this GT work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.   While exact numbers are hard to come by, it's clean that 1969 GT Fastbacks are relatively rare in the world of classic Mustangs. While this one has the color of a Shelby and some attributes of a Mach 1, it is a true GT Fastback and one our consignor describes as a driver, one you can take and out and enjoy while benefiting from the iconic sportsroof design. 9T02M200785 9-1969 T-Metuchen, NJ Assy Plant 02-Mustang Fastback M-351ci 4bbl V8 200785-Sequential Unit Number Classic Auto Mall is home to more than 1,000 classic and collectible vehicles for sale via consignment in
