Consequently, the 1966 Mustang remained largely unchanged from its predecessor, the '65 version. In fact, Ford's advertising campaign for the '66 Mustang emphasized that it had not changed much, assuring Mustang lovers that their favorite car had not undergone significant alterations. This change marked a departure from the honeycomb style of the '65 grille, replacing it with a horizontal bar, floating Mustang look.
