1964 Chevrolet Impala 2 Door Hardtop With all the luxury the '64 Chevrolet offers, you'll wonder how we kept the price as nice as it is. Look inside and you'll find generous foam cushioned seating, yards and yards of attractive new fabrics and extra soft vinyls, deep twist carpeting from door to door. Get in for a spin and you'll learn just how responsive this great highway performer can be. Chevrolet's exclusive Jet-smooth ride is mainly the result of hefty coil springs at all four wheels taking the brunt of road shocks. From a 1964 print ad featuring a hardtop Impala. For consignment, a 1964 Chevrolet Impala 2 door hardtop with true mileage unknown. This one is rolling on 24-inch wheels and even if that's not your thing, the straight body, 5.3 liter LS V8, nice paint, and clean interior should warrant closer consideration! Exterior There's no way the wheels don't grab your attention first and these are 24-inch Forgiato wheels wrapped in 255/25ZR24 tires with a mid 2020 date code. You read that right, these are 25 series tires! Moving on from the wheels, we note the classic lines and desirable 2 door configuration of the Impala, here drenched in two stage Charcoal Gray Metallic accented by a looping chrome trim spear on the side and a straight, vertical front fascia putting dual LED lights to the sides of a grille that could double an Excel spreadsheet. In back, a band of white curves over the epic triple tail light layout and a straight chrome bumper with the ribbed design used in front. The paint and the brightwork are very nice with imperfections noted as some evident filler and some roughness in a few seams. Interior Handsome black door panels include ribbed inserts, grommet accenting, and silver trim and both present as welcoming portals to the split bench inside, also in black vinyl and sharing in esthetic integrity. The chrome frame could use a polish on an otherwise new looking seat, and the rear bench also looks unused. An authentic steering wheel leads to a digital dash, reflective and black when off, bluish green digits illuminating when on, topping a mid dash that is virtually unchanged since '64 and housing an AM radio. Twist carpet still covers the floor, a black headliner rises above in decent shape, and the trunk is barren and clean. Drivetrain Under the hood resides a 5.3 liter LS V8, fuel injected and adorned with headers presenting cleanly with an aluminum radiator and open cold air element. It's mated to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic sending power to 3.08 gears in back. Undercarriage Clean and dry underneath with minimal surface rust but some swiss cheese on the trunk floor. Power brakes are behind the big wheels with disc in front and drums in back and dual exhaust run from the header through stock style mufflers and dumping just in front of each rear wheel. Suspension includes coil springs front and rear with a 3 link and a panhard bar helping out in back. Drive-Ability With the giant wheels, this '64 sits higher than any Impala we've driven but otherwise feels relatively normal once rolling along. The engine runs well and provides plenty of power, and the low profile tires track straight, and we'll keep them on smooth tarmac for now! Meanwhile, a few things will need attention and are not functional including, the wipers, horn, radio, turn signals, reverse lights, driver's window which won't go down, and heater blower. In addition, the check engine light is on. Everything else afforded occupants and driver work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase. Here's an attention getting Impala, first for its enormous wheels but then its the paint and interior that check the boxes for impressive presentation. Plus, it's got a sweet little transplant that makes it a bit of a sleeper. This one has all the ingredients for show and
