The MGA was revolutionary for the small automaker, finally incorporating fully integrated fenders while maintaining the sporty styling for which British 2-seaters are justly famous. This handsome red 1956 MGA is also nattily dressed with lots of chrome, from the instantly-recognizable MG grille to the raked windshield to the bright bumpers with bumperettes fore and aft. Taken in all together, the combination of bright red paint and all that shiny chrome makes this look like a far more expensive and exotic car. The clean black interior is a wonderful contrast to the Red paint, a traditional look that seems especially well-suited to open two-seaters like this. Somehow, only the British seem to have mastered that wonderfully inviting look that makes you want to settle into the bucket seats holding you in place during a spirited drive on your favorite country road. Handsome black-faced Jaeger gauges are originals, as is 3-spoke sporty steering wheel that feels great in the hands of the driver. The 5-speed shifter has a delightful mechanical feel that encourages you to wind it out in each gear to listen to the mechanical symphony going on around you. The 1588 cc inline-four cylinder engine, coupled with dual side-draft SU carbs, was a mainstay of MG sports cars for years and years, and with an upgraded 5-speed manual transmission and added rack and pinion steering system, this MG is a pleasure to drive. The cackling exhaust note is bigger than the engine's size would suggest it should be, but that's the delight of an MG: driving it quickly is an experience you'll savor without having to risk life and limb at insane speeds to do it. With proper MG maroon paint on the engine, it looks quite authentic. The classic MG knock-off wheels are attractive and in fantastic shape, and they're all wrapped in 165/80R15 Nexen blackwall radials that finish the elegant look. HIGHLIGHTS: * 1500cc Engine * Dual Side-Draft SU Carburetors * Upgraded 5-Speed Manual Transmission * Upgraded Rack and Pinion Steering System * 15-Inch Knock-Off Wire Wheels * Bright Red Paint * Black Interior * Bucket Seats * Seat Belts * Original Jaeger Gauges * Black Convertible Top Delightful to drive with its upgraded 5-speed transmission and rack and pinion steering, this 1956 MGA is a great opportunity to sample vintage motoring and make a smart investment.
