Year: 1935 Make: Mercedes-Benz Model: 200B LWB Cabriolet VIN: 812426 Engine: 2.3L 6-Cyl Transmission: 3-Speed Manual Horsepower: 38 Exterior Color: Black Interior Color: Brown Curb Weight: 3,308 LBS (EST) Production numbers: 3,801 (all body styles) Tires: General 6.70-15 Radial This 1935 Mercedes comes with: - Documentation & correspondence from Daimler-Benz (1971) - Copies of 200 (W21) and 230 (W143) Owners manuals - Clean Indiana title showing miles exempt - Period German memorabilia. - 1 key Provenance: This 1935 Mercedes-Benz comes from a time period of stunning automotive design and dramatic history. This Benz has a unique history as it was a part of a bulk-order from the Mannheim works plant, most likely meaning it was ordered by the German military. History on this car is unique as its is believed the 2.3L engine was first fitted in a Pullman Limousine body, and then swapped into this Cabriolet B body in 1937 by the factory. It is not clearly known history since many of the records were scrapped during WWII. Fast forward to the 1960’s, and the 200 Cab found its way to North Dakota, where restoration work was completed on the car in the early 1970’s. In 1976, the current Indiana-based family purchased the car. From the late 70’s through the early 2000’s, the car was driven and shown continuously. In the mid 2000’s, the car was parked in a detached garage, where it has remained over the last 20 years. In the summer of 2025, MOTORVAULT unearthed the Benz from its 2-decade long slumber. The car currently does not run, but the engine does turnover. As a true “garage find,” this Mercedes is a great candidate for a restoration or a mechanical preservation. MOTORVAULT is proud to represent this pre-war hidden treasure.
