1967 Plymouth GTX Hardtop 426 Hemi This 1967 Plymouth Hemi GTX Hardtop is one of just 415 examples produced for the model year. It is equipped with its original numbers matching and the legendary 426ci HEMI V8 and a three-speed automatic transmission, making it a rare and highly desirable piece of Mopar muscle history. The five-digit odometer shows 66k miles. The car is said to have been previously owned by NHRA drag racer Tim Wilkerson before being purchased from a dealer in Arkansas in 2005, and then underwent a refurbishment in 2009 that included rebuilding both the engine and transmission as well as refinishing the exterior. From the factory, the 426ci Street HEMI was fitted with dual four-barrel carburetors and rated at 425 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque, delivering the kind of performance that defined the golden era of American muscle. The engine was professionally rebuilt in 2009 by Lofgren Auto Specialties of Cedar, Minnesota, with power routed to the rear wheels through a rebuilt three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission and a 3.23 Sure Grip limited-slip differential, the transmission overhaul having been completed at the same time as the engine work. The underside has been soda-blasted and treated with a POR-15 protective coating for added durability. Originally finished in Turbine Bronze Metallic (MM1) with a black vinyl roof, the car was repainted in striking PP1 Red with black accent stripes using a basecoat/clearcoat process during the 2009 refurbishment. Exterior details include nonfunctional hood scoops, chrome-finished bumpers, a driver-side mirror, GTX badging, a polished fuel-filler cap, and dual exhaust outlets with polished finishers. Magnum 500-style 15-inch wheels are mounted with 205/70 front and 255/60 rear BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, giving the car a classic, aggressive muscle stance. A complete set of redline tires and hubcaps are included with sale. Braking is provided by manual drums at all four corners and the steering remains unassisted, preserving the authentic, raw driving experience these cars are known for. Inside, the front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in patterned black vinyl, and the horn-ring steering wheel frames a 150-mph speedometer along with gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, and alternator status, while a 6,000-rpm tachometer sits ahead of the console-mounted shifter. Interior amenities include a center console, front vent windows, an AM/FM radio, a heater, and front and rear seatbelts.
